The Spiny Forest exhibit is residence to ring-tailed and collared brown lemurs, as well as radiated tortoises and a wide range of chook species together with purple fodys. The animals co-exist here simply as they would within the wild. Gorillas are amongst our closest family members within the wild. Their unique personalities emerge via their interactions with each other – playful, cautious, nurturing, curious.

Mei Xiang (may-SHONG) is an adult feminine whose name means “lovely perfume.” She has black hip-high “stockings” extending up her hind legs. The black band across her shoulders is wider in the middle than Tian Tian’s. Her eye patches are oval, and a pale black band runs across the bridge of her nose.
